- Implementing a Laboratory Quality Management System

The New York State Department of Health has been surveying and measuring laboratories against the Quality Management Systems (QMS) section of its Laboratory Standards of Practice and issuing educational citations for last two years without penalty. Starting in March 2010, the QMS chapter of the New York State standards will be enforced. GNYHA Services, Inc. sponsored a timely educational seminar on November 20, 2009 for member organizations to review lessons learned from the last two years of NYSDOH findings against NYS QMS standards. Deirdre Astin, Director of CLEP @ NYSDOH presented these findings and discussed the survey practices that will be used to evaluate laboratories for compliance starting March 2010.
